Product Design and Features:
USB and Aux Ports

So when we talk about the Bluetooth speakers, there are two things that comes to one mind – Ease of portability and Sound quality. Well, Philips has done a good job here. While the product dimension shows how small it is, Philips has tried to make it as portable as possible without compromising on the sound quality. The outer material of this speaker is made up plastic which makes it sturdy and light weight, so you can carry this speaker anywhere while travelling without giving a second thought to additional weight or being broken while travelling.

Toggle button & Led

The design is definitely one of the best thing about this speaker. The combination of subtle and bright colors make this speaker a cool thing to carry. It has a LED indicator and 3 way switch for switching from Bluetooth to Auxiliary to shutting it down. There is also an auxiliary input and charging port at the back of the speaker.BUT, the downside is that there is no microphone volume and playback control buttons but may be they haven’t kept these buttons to keep this speaker as simple as possible.

It is designed in a way that it can stand vertically and with a rubber strip at the bottom of the speaker makes it steady to the surface. You can also keep it horizontal but being cylindrical in shape it may roll down and fall, so you might need to keep a small stopper to stop it from rolling off.

The pairing of the Bluetooth speaker with your music device, which in most cases would be your mobile is quite simple. You need to turn the toggle switch at the bottom to Bluetooth (as it is a 3 way switch that toggles between OFF/ Aux/Bluetooth) and push the pairing button beside the toggle button to pair it with the music device. One connected you will hear a beep sound with Led turned to blue color.

Pros:

This is one example of small thing make a loud sound. If you are playing the music in small room, trust me you don’t need put the songs to the highest volume on mobile. Even at the highest volume you won’t hear the sound tearing off or shaking. So the sound does not distorts at high volume, all thanks to Philips Anti- clipping function which maintains the quality of the music even at the highest volume.

While one would expect the sound quality to be better with Aux but it is found that this speaker surprisingly perform better with the Bluetooth. The connection range of this speaker with your music device is pretty good and reasonable. If you are confined to smaller area like your house or shop then you will not loose connection but but if you go to your neighbor’s house or to the 1st floor of your house then you might loose your connection.

Cons:

If you are bass lover, then it might be a bit disappointing¬†for you. The bass of the speaker is good but you can’t the best of the bass from this tiny little fella.

Battery:

Pros:

Given the tiny size of this speaker the battery life is quite reasonable. Thought Philips claims the playback time of 6 hours but it really depends on the volume you are playing it. If you are playing it 100% volume you can expect it go for 4 hrs, but mostly people play at 50 – 60% volume and at this volume you can expect to last long for around 5+ hrs. To fully charge the speaker you need to keep it on charge for 1 hours and 45 mins but don’t worry, you can still use the speakers when it’s charging.

Cons:

Though there a small Led light at the bottom of the speaker that shows if it is charging or turned on but there is no way you can determine how much charge is left in the speaker. The led is just an indicator of charging but doesn’t charge it’s color to red or something else to indicate less that 25% battery left. So, it will go completely off ¬†when there no charge left which is painful if you are travelling and you have no idea about the charge left.

Overall –

Pros:

  • Compact Size
  • Cool Design
  • Great sound quality
  • Sturdy and light
  • Reasonable range
  • Good price

Cons:

  • No battery life indicator

So, if you have reasonable expectations from a Bluetooth speaker, this one is worth your money. Good design and great audio quality makes is value for money.
