Before checking out our list for best Bluetooth speakers under Rs 2000/ 3000 in India, let’s check out – what one should look for before making a buying decision for the Bluetooth speakers.

How to choose a Best Bluetooth Speaker?
1) Portability

Before looking out for a Bluetooth speaker, one should define the exact usage for the speaker. Places and time when you think you are going to use the speakers. Are you going to use it only while travelling? Then you might opt for a small handy light weight speaker. If you are going to keep it in your room and love the bass, then you might opt for a medium sized portable speaker. And on the other hand, if  loud sound is your priority and want it for your home parties, the you might end up buying big heavy speakers like JBL Extreme and others in the same category.

2) Features

Second, important thing to look out for is the features in the Bluetooth speakers. How good is the connectivity with your phone or music device? What’s the battery life? Is it waterproof or splash proof ? How good is the built quality and stuff like that. So definitely, the features you should look for also depends upon the usage. If you are planning to take the speakers outdoor on beaches or hiking, then you would look for features like waterproof and strong built with good battery life. But on the other hand, if you are going to just use the speakers for personal listening at home, waterproof feature is good to have but not must.

3) Battery Life

Battery life is again on the most important thing, that one should look for. It is the battery life that makes the portable Bluetooth speakers portable. Surely, one would not like to have a Bluetooth speaker that needs to be charged every now and then. An average Bluetooth speakers, should atleast last for 3 – 4 hours at 100% volume.

And you will find there might be lot of variation in the battery life. What is claimed by the manufacturer and what in actual is may differ quite a lot.  Also, battery life depends a lot on the volumes at which the speakers is played. Higher the volume, lower is the battery life. In my opinion one should consider a Bluetooth speaker, which has a good a battery life at 50% volume.

4) Sound Quality

Everyone wants the best sound quality speaker, but when we talk about the speakers in specific price range, then we might have to consider the personal choices to get the best speakers that suits your taste. Some people love bass and want the best sound in lows, while others need the clarity in mids and high range. So it all depends upon your personal choices.

Now when we know, what to look out for, before buying the Bluetooth Speakers, lets check out our recommendations.

List of Best Portable Bluetooth Speakers under Rs 2000 /3000 in India 2018:

1) JBL Go

When it comes to Bluetooth speakers, JBL is one of the brands on which you can rely upon. They have a wide range of Bluetooth speakers, for almost everyone’s needs. JBL Go is one powerful speaker, if you are looking for good, robust, descent sound quality speaker for personal listening.

With a weight of just 132 gms, this one is a small light weight speaker. With a solid metal mesh in the front and rubberized anti-slip cushion on 5 sides, it has strong built. On the front side inside the metal mesh, there is a Led light, which indicates that the speaker is connected with you music device.

The battery life of this JBL Go is claimed to last for 5 hours, as per the manufacturer but in reality you can expect it to last for 3.30 mins, if you play at 50% volume. So battery life is one area, which is a bit disappointing for JBL Go. Another lacking feature is the battery life indicator, which is not present in the JBL Go. So while travelling you need to fully charge the device in advance, to be on a safer side.

Talking about the sound quality, this speaker can easily fill a small room when played at 100% volume. The bass is descent and the lows and mids are good. The highs are pretty ok, but considering the size of the speaker, you would expect the same.

2) Philips BT50 B

If you are looking for a small, good looking powerful speaker, then your search ends here. This cylindrical shaped speaker weighs just 91 gms and perfectly fits in your hand. The outer plastic case is quite sturdy, making the overall build quality of this speaker quite good. It has a single Led light indicator, which glows when the device is connected.

It does not have volume control and play/pause button embedded in the speaker itself. So you need to control the volume through the device always. The 3 way toggle button at the bottom allows you to switch from Bluetooth to AUX to Power on/off.

Talking about the battery life. Philips claims a battery life for BT50 speakers to be 6 hours, but in our actual tests you can expect it to last for 4 hours @100% volume and for  5 – 6 hours, when played around 50% volume. Give the tiny size of the speaker, the battery life is quite reasonable.

The sound quality of this small speaker is surprisingly quite good and loud. Philips definitely has done a good job here. It might be a bit disappointing if is you are a bass lover, but the mids are quite clear and it does not distorts even at higher volumes.

This speaker is IPX5 certified, which means it is water resistant. So you can take this speaker outdoor during rains, but refrain from submerging the speaker in water. It is water resistant but not water proof.  It is good that Sony has designed the speaker in this way and still managed to keep the price affordable.

Talking about the sound quality, the lows and mids are good. It has a bass to it, but “Extra bass” to the name of the speaker might be a bit stretch. The highs are pretty ok, though you may find it to distort at certain frequencies.

The connectivity is seamless and once paired it connects automatically every time. The range is pretty ok, you won’t find any skipping till 30 feet, if there is no wall in between.

JBL claims a battery life 8 hours, but you can expect it to last for 4.30 – 5 hours @100% volume and 6.30 hrs when played around 50% volume. Given the ultra small size of the speaker, the battery life is definitely a plus point. While most of the speakers in this range, lasts only for 4-5 hrs, this small powerhouse definitely has a juice in it.

Talking about the sound quality, this is not for bass lovers. The mids are pretty good. The vocals in the mids are specially quite clear and without distortion. Highs are just ok, if not bad. The lows are a bit muffled, you may find some rattling during transitions. It is not heavy on bass and the trebles are balanced. Overall, for personal listening and enjoying your music on the go, it won’t disappoint you.
